The Groninger Meeuwen, is an extremely attractive chicken breed from Holland. It is considered a rare chicken breed.
The breed was near extinction in 1981 with only 26 birds left in the whole world. A group of enthuasiasts got together and purposefully bred these wonderful birds. This resulted in more than 200 breeders worldwide today.
The breed has three distinct colours: Silver pencilled, Gold Pencilled and Citroen
The breed boasts a large breed as well as a bantam version.
